Geraldine Tan is a Director at Amica Law LLC with our IP and Technology Commercialisation and Licensing practice group. She handles the full spectrum of IP and Technology transactions from the development and acquisition of IP and Technology to their exploitation and use. She is also experienced in commercial law transactions and has assisted clients in securing their interests from sourcing and manufacturing to distribution and retail. She also regularly advises on data protection regulatory and compliance concerns. Geraldine has represented clients of different profiles from diverse industries and fields such as banking and finance, education, e-commerce, fashion, food and beverage, hospitality, IT, manufacturing, print and media and semiconductor. She is able to deliver bespoke contracts to cater to the unique commercial and regulatory concerns of each client, and seeks to ensure that each deal is aligned with the business objectives and strategies of the client. Geraldine graduated with a Bachelor of Laws Second Class Honours (Upper) from the National University of Singapore in 2005, and was called to the Singapore Bar in May 2006. Experience Examples of her experience include: • Assisting clients in their technology projects, including in the acquisition, deployment and outsourcing of IT solutions and infrastructure. She has acted for both vendors and customers. She is also familiar with the regulatory and compliance requirements of Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in relation to such projects, where the customer is a Singapore-based financial institution. • Acting for a leading agribusiness company in the intellectual property aspects of their joint venture in China with a major US food company, as well as, their joint venture with a major specialty chemicals company. • Assisting a leading cocoa confectionary company in the intellectual property aspects of the sale and divestment of their cocoa ingredients business. • Assisting clients in growing their business and brand presence through franchising, licensing and distribution. This includes multi-national companies who are looking to expand within Singapore and local companies looking to expand their operations within and beyond Singapore. • Advising a local university in their technology transfer and research and collaboration projects. • Advising a leading media organisation in matters relating to their print and online media and publishing business, and internet search business.
